About Wren
With over 3 years of experience and a Graduate Certificate in Advanced Guitar Studies, I teach guitar through the art of listening. My lessons focus on ear training as the foundation of all musicianship. Students learn how to transcribe solos, identify chord progressions, and recognize melodies by ear. I help them understand intervals and tonal centers so they can play intuitively. My teaching encourages independence from notation and visual aids. We also explore exercises that develop both perfect and relative pitch. I provide consistent, constructive feedback to guide progress. Each class mixes structured technique with creative listening challenges. I work closely with advanced teens and motivated learners who want to think musically. My sessions are interactive, blending practice and play seamlessly. I love seeing students gain confidence in hearing what they once struggled to identify. Learning the guitar this way is both empowering and inspiring. When you train your ear, every song becomes a world you can explore.

My approach to teaching guitar blends music reading, rhythm, and real-world playing. I believe strong reading skills make every guitarist more versatile and confident. Lessons cover tablature, standard notation, and rhythm notation exercises. I teach sight-reading gradually, using pieces that match each student’s level. The Classical Purist learns discipline, tone, and expressive interpretation from reading. The Jazz Explorer discovers how written rhythms and chord symbols shape improvisation. I focus on connecting what students read to how they feel and play. My lessons are practical, structured, and tailored to personal goals. Each class includes listening and clapping exercises for rhythm accuracy. I provide clear feedback that builds steady progress. Over time, students begin to read effortlessly and play expressively. My goal is simple—to make reading a joy, not a task. Together, we’ll turn every sheet of music into sound and inspiration.
