About Beau
Hi! my name is Beau Croxton. I am a New York City-born singer/songwriter/musician and based in Brooklyn. I have played guitar for 24 years and been a highly active musician in the New York City live music scene (and taught guitar lessons) since 2012. My songwriting with my band Damn Jackals has been featured in American Songwriter, Under The Radar Magazine and more. My lessons are 100% geared towards your goals, and I will customize my lessons around them while teaching absolutely essential rudiments along the way. My lessons are available for local/New York City based lessons or Online lessons to anyone. My approach to teaching guitar is centered around the fact that everyone is capable of being a great guitarist/bassist. I celebrate positivity of every learning moment along the way, with an emphasis on kindness and fun in order to make my students feel confident, capable and comfortable BIO: I began guitar classes at the age of 11, and taught myself bass guitar and drums. I started performing and songwriting regularly before the age of 14. Beau studied improv, jazz and music theory with Medeski, Martin, and Wood in 2008 & 2010 and was the lead guitarist in John Medeski’s ensemble. I am the lead singer and guitarist of the Brooklyn based garage rock /punk-rock and roll band Damn Jackals. I founded Damn Jackals in 2016, and have since composed nearly all the arrangements for the band. The band has toured the USA twice— one tour included a slot at Savannah Stopover Music Festival in 2019 alongside Deerhunter, Lucy Dacus, Faye Webster and more. Myself and Damn Jackals have received critical acclaim and have been featured prominently in press outlets such as American Songwriter, Under the Radar Magazine, Earmilk and beyond. I also directed a horn section for my band that has previously toured & collaborated with David Byrne (of Talking Heads), St Vincent and LCD Soundsystem. Again-- My classes work exactly at your desired level of progress, and my goal is to get you exactly where you want to go as quickly as possible-- all while having fun all along the way!

My lessons are catered to you and customized to your goals from the first lesson to the last.
What sets me apart as a tutor is that fun is an absolute priority- I believe firmly that lessons should be a combination of highly engaging personal goals in addition to the rudiments- my goal is to get you thrilled with your own progress, rather than bored with what you aren't interested in.
A typical lesson plan will be a combination of exactly what you want to accomplish paired with some key rudiments to take home and work on. Win win.
I specialize in working with beginners, intermediate, and upper intimidate players, and I love working with kids as well.
