About Iris
Living in the world of jazz-adjacent singer-songwriters means I approach the fretboard with a specific ear for harmony. Just picking up the guitar, I naturally lean into acoustic technique and fingerpicking rather than just strumming chords. After 11 years, I help students navigate everything from reading tabs and music theory to mastering barre chords.
We also cover essential maintenance and tuning so your gear stays ready. It just feels like a natural extension of who I am, really.

Sitting down for the first time, we grab your favorite songs to anchor the technical work immediately. You will find that playing while singing becomes much easier once we coordinate the rhythm and phrasing together.
Drawing on my diploma from Musicians Institute, I guide you through improvisation and soloing to make the instrument sound full. You learn to handle the guitar with confidence and grace. Keeping the music fun is the best part of the process.
