About Rowan
I am a guitarist and bassist of 12 years, with both performance and studio experience in rock/pop, jazz and musical theatre. I also have seven years' experience in private tuition.
My passion for guitar and music in general has carried me through life, taken me to places I never would have expected to go to and inspired me to learn things about myself and others that I never would have otherwise. I want to help you on your journey too! I believe that everyone has the ability to play an instrument and access the joy of music - it is simply a matter of determining what inspires them, and what I can do to help bring their inner music out.
I am queer-friendly and respectful of all identities and lifestyles. I do not follow a generic curriculum - I adapt my teaching to each student, basing my approach on what I believe will allow them to best connect with their practice.

About the lesson

Our work together will start with a conversation about you - your goals for learning the instrument, the music that you love, and the ways you feel you learn best. I will create a custom lesson plan for you with these factors in mind.
A typical lesson will be 30 mins to one hour long, and we can focus on a range of different things - perhaps preparing for an upcoming exam, developing your technique, ears and knowledge of music theory, or just learning fun songs!
I am fully PVG certified, and can teach students of a range of ages, playing levels and backgrounds.
I am a guitarist of 12 years' experience, and 7 years' experience in tutoring. I hold two degrees in music from the University of Edinburgh.
