About Silas
My teaching approach for guitar is all about helping you play with confidence, feel, and skill. I combine structured technique with creative freedom to keep lessons both fun and focused. Whether you're into gritty blues solos or high-energy rock riffs, I guide you step by step. We work on chord transitions, pick control, strumming patterns, and developing solid fretboard knowledge. I use a mix of visual tools like fretboard maps, sound-based exercises, and hands-on playing to make things easy to understand. Technique is taught with care—built from the ground up to help your hands move freely and your sound stay clean. I also help you explore tone, phrasing, and the emotional power behind your playing. You’ll learn how to lock into rhythm, jam with style, and play songs that really speak to you. I support students who dream of performing, recording, or simply playing with heart. With 5 years of teaching experience and a Bachelor of Arts in Music with a Guitar Emphasis, I guide students through a holistic learning journey that goes beyond the fretboard. My method weaves together movement-based practices like the Alexander Technique and breathwork to promote ease, posture, and physical awareness. Visual tools such as diagrams and fretboard maps make complex theory accessible and clear.
I use auditory playbacks to sharpen your ear and deepen your musical intuition. Technique is built thoughtfully and gradually, with special attention to body alignment and efficient movement. I also support students in managing performance anxiety through mindfulness strategies and confidence-building exercises. Whether you're preparing for a recital or just playing for joy, I help you feel grounded and expressive.
