About Jack
I’m Jack, a professional guitarist and music graduate with around 20 years of playing experience across electric guitar, live performance, and music production. I achieved Grade 8 in Electric Guitar and Grade 5 in Music Theory (ABRSM) within my first six years of playing, and hold a first-class bachelor’s degree in Music Technology.
Alongside teaching, I’m an active performing musician and currently play in the covers band Negative Splits, who recently played their debut show to a 250-capacity audience in South London. This ongoing performance work keeps my playing sharp and my teaching grounded in real-world musicianship.
I’m patient, well-organised, and professional in my approach, creating a supportive environment where students feel confident to progress at their own pace. Whether you’re picking up the guitar for the first time or looking to refine your technique and musical understanding, I aim to provide clear guidance, structure, and encouragement throughout your learning journey.

My guitar lessons are practical, structured, and tailored to each student’s goals. I focus on building strong fundamentals (technique, timing, fretboard knowledge and theory) while keeping lessons musical and motivating through real songs and styles you enjoy. I adapt my teaching to suit how you learn - combining clear exercises, musical examples, and focused practice plans you can use between sessions.
Lessons typically run for 60 minutes, though shorter sessions can be arranged for younger students. I hold Grade 8 in Electric Guitar, Grade 5 Music Theory (ABRSM), and a first-class degree in Music Technology, with around 20 years of playing experience and regular live performance experience in a working covers band.
I teach children, teenagers, and adults, from complete beginners to intermediate players, including those preparing for grades, wanting to improve technique, or looking to play confidently in bands. My aim is steady progress, clarity, and enjoyment of the instrument.
