About Owen
My teaching approach is designed to support students preparing for guitar exams or working toward formal certification. I focus on strong theory grounding, clear learning goals, and consistent progress. Lessons include sight reading for guitar, classical fingerstyle development, and fluency in standard notation, helping students feel confident in both written and aural understanding.
We work through structured repertoire that aligns with exam boards or certification pathways, ensuring students are well-prepared at every level. I break down complex pieces into manageable sections, building technique, tone, and musicality step by step. Personalized feedback and regular check-ins keep students on track and motivated.

I’m a passionate guitar tutor with a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Guitar and two years of teaching experience. I love working with children, teens, and neurodivergent learners, creating a supportive and engaging environment for everyone. My lessons combine structured creativity with repetition and variation, so learning is both effective and fun.
I use interactive tools, games, and hands-on activities to help students build fluency while enjoying the process. Whether we’re exploring chords, improvising solos, or developing fingerstyle technique, I focus on making each lesson meaningful and joyful. I truly believe music is a powerful tool for confidence, self-expression, and personal growth.
Every student is unique, so I tailor lessons to fit your pace, interests, and learning style. I encourage exploration while keeping structure and clear goals in mind. Together, we’ll develop technique, musicality, and a deeper understanding of jazz and beyond.
