About Megan

Hello! I’m an experienced Middle Grades Language Arts teacher with a bachelor’s degree, a master’s degree, and 10 years of teaching experience. I am passionate about helping students strengthen their reading, writing, and communication skills while building the confidence to reach their full potential.

My tutoring style is supportive, engaging, and personalized. I understand that every student learns differently, so I tailor my lessons to each learner’s individual needs, learning style, and academic goals. Whether we are working on reading comprehension, grammar, vocabulary, essay writing, or literary analysis, I strive to make learning meaningful, manageable, and enjoyable.

I believe that every student can grow and succeed with the right guidance, encouragement, and strategies. My goal is to create a welcoming environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, learning from mistakes, and celebrating their progress. With 10 years of teaching experience and both a bachelor’s and master’s degree, I am passionate about helping middle grades students develop strong reading, writing, and communication skills. My tutoring approach is student-centered, engaging, and personalized to meet each learner’s individual needs, strengths, and goals.

I believe students learn best when they feel supported, confident, and actively involved in their learning. I use a variety of teaching strategies, including guided practice, modeling, interactive activities, close reading, writing workshops, and thoughtful questioning. I break down challenging concepts into manageable steps and provide clear explanations, constructive feedback, and opportunities for students to practice independently. My goal is not only to help students improve their academic skills but also to develop the confidence and independence they need to become successful learners.

Each lesson begins with a brief check-in and review of the student's goals or previous learning. We then focus on a specific skill, such as reading comprehension, vocabulary development, grammar, essay writing, or literary analysis. I model the skill, work through examples with the student, and provide guided practice before allowing the student to apply the skill independently. We finish by reviewing progress, celebrating successes, and identifying next steps for continued growth. Lessons are flexible and adjusted to the student's pace and learning needs.

My tutoring is designed primarily for upper elementary and middle grades students who want to strengthen their English Language Arts skills. I can support students who need additional help with reading comprehension, vocabulary, grammar, writing organization, essays, literary analysis, or school assignments. I also work well with students who want to build confidence, improve academic performance, or prepare for more advanced coursework. Whether a student needs targeted support with a challenging skill or enrichment to reach the next level, I tailor each lesson to their needs and goals.

My ultimate goal is to help students become stronger readers, more effective writers, and confident communicators who are prepared for success in the classroom and beyond.
