About Ben
I was a self-taught bassist and guitarist until deciding to study music after high school. I went through TAFE and then WAAPA before embarking on my own musical journey which has seen me play with many great artists and learn a lot along the way.
I have been an active member of the Perth music community for over 10 years and apart from making my own music, am currently the bassist for Katy Steele (Little Birdy). I have been teaching alongside performing for the duration of my career and have a genuine passion for sharing my knowledge and motivating students to reach their full potential.

I've been lucky enough to play with these artists at some of the biggest festivals and nicest venues in Australia and beyond, and have lots of real life experience to share with students of all ages and skill levels. I aim to inspire my students to achieve their goals; whether its playing at the local pub with mates, joining a ukulele group on weekends, or passing that pesky theory exam!
The best teachers/lecturers I've had were the ones that challenged and motivated me in a positive manner and I endeavour to ignite the same sense of passion in my lessons.

Hello! I enjoy sharing my passion, experience and knowledge of various instruments, performing and theory to people of all ages and skill levels.
Teaching: bass, guitar, ukulele
I conduct lessons in my home studio located in Fremantle but can also travel if it's not too far.
I've been teaching in between performing for over 10 years and approach every new student with an open mind and therefore structure the lessons with a custom curriculum based on your specific goals (and abilities).
Currently, I teach students ranging from 8 to 73 years old! Whether you're looking to pick up a new hobby, brush up on old skills, or finally make time to get some theory under your fingers, I welcome all challenges and find the journey as rewarding as my students do.
Lessons range from 30 mins to 1.5 hours, weekly, fortnightly, or completely casual depending on the student's situation (level, goals, flexibility). I aim to inspire and motivate my students by creating an inclusive, encouraging and relaxed atmosphere as I believe that a positive learning environment is paramount to producing the best results.
My lessons can and have also included:
- theory (high school tutoring/WAAPA audition prep)
- song writing
- music production
- synthesiser exploration
- performance advice
- band audition preparation
