About Ned

Hi, I'm Ned, a BRIT School-trained guitarist and enthusiastic, patient guitar teacher who has been playing since childhood. I currently teach private students and particularly enjoy helping beginners and developing players build confidence in a relaxed and supportive environment. My background is in rock and blues guitar, but I teach a wide range of styles on both acoustic and electric guitar. Every lesson is tailored to your goals, whether that's learning your favourite songs, improving technique, understanding music theory, or simply becoming a more confident player. Alongside teaching, I write and record my own music and hold a Extended Level 3 Diploma in Music Technology from the BRIT School. I can also help students understand recording, guitar equipment, effects and tone, helping them get more from their playing both at home and in the studio.

About the lesson

Ever wanted to learn your favourite songs, master a riff you've always loved, or finally feel confident picking up a guitar? My lessons are designed to help you achieve your goals in a relaxed, friendly and structured way. I teach beginners through to intermediate players of all ages and tailor every lesson to the individual. Together we'll focus on the music, techniques and skills that keep you motivated while building strong foundations and making steady progress.

Lessons can cover: Chords and strumming Songs and riffs Technique and confidence-building Rhythm and timing Music theory made simple Improvisation and lead guitar Acoustic and electric guitar Recording, tone, effects and music technology

Whether you're picking up a guitar for the very first time, returning to it after a break, or looking to take your playing further, I'd be delighted to help you on your musical journey. Lessons are available online or in person, and I'm happy to travel to students' homes across West London and the surrounding areas, making it easy to learn in an environment where you feel comfortable and confident. I look forward to helping you achieve your musical goals and enjoy the journey along the way

Ned is brilliant at teaching guitar in a fun and relaxed way. As someone fairly new to guitar he was able to structure my lessons around my particular needs. We discussed my objectives and he quickly identified areas for improvement. I’d been struggling with the strum pattern on Wonderwall for ages but he was able to offer different approaches until we found a solution. Highly recommended if you are looking for a patient but fun tutor that is happy to tailor the lesson to your specific needs.

Ned is friendly, insightful and an excellent guitar player.
We have a good laugh while he teaches me the tricks of the trade.
He is a great tutor with a flexible approach to all styles and skill levels.
His approach with me is song based (my choice) and he encourages me to challenge myself by playing more difficult pieces rather than simple exercises. Works for me!

I hadn't played guitar in over 40 years, and even back then, I was very much a beginner. I started lessons with Ned, and within 6 weeks, he had me able to play along to several songs and pick up new ones quickly. He also started by teaching me lead, and I am now able to play lead (at a basic level) along to a backing track. I am still amazed at how far I have come in such a short space of time. The added bonus is that we have so much fun in the lessons, and I look forward to them greatly. It is an absolute delight to be taught by Ned at all levels, and therefore I thoroughly recommend him. Plus, his love of the guitar is contagious. Thank you, Ned, for all your help and encouragement!
