About TJ

I have taught guitar and music theory to over 100 students over the past eight years. In my lessons, I tailor each session to the individual needs and goals of the student. For guitar, I begin with targeted exercises to build technique, adjusting these based on each student’s level. We then explore different musical styles that align with the student's interests and strengths. Finally, we focus on learning songs chosen by the student or selected by me to support their musical growth. Lessons are held on Zoom and typically last between 50 and 60 minutes.

About the lesson

Each lesson is designed to provide a well-rounded and engaging learning experience. Sessions start with a warm-up, focusing on exercises that build finger strength, agility, and precision. These exercises are carefully chosen to match the student’s skill level and ensure steady progress over time. Following the warm-up, we dive into various musical styles, encouraging students to explore genres they enjoy or discover new ones. This section of the lesson develops versatility and helps students find their unique musical voice. The final part of each session is dedicated to song study, where we work on pieces the student has requested or songs that I believe will aid in their development. This approach allows students to stay motivated by learning music they love while also tackling any musical challenges in a structured way. Each lesson is personalised to meet the student’s specific needs, and my goal is to create a supportive, interactive, and fun environment that makes learning guitar an enjoyable journey.

Tandoruk Can is a friend and colleague I met at university. He is not only a great singer but a very professional vocal coach; I personally had several one-to-one lessons with him and it was incredible how precise and on point were all his advices. He is very prepared and all the exercises he suggests are incredibly helpful.

TJ has been my teacher for a little bit under a year, and his teachings have been brilliant. Before his lessons, I’d never considered the complexity of the voice and the science behind a great voice.
TJ does a great job at explaining all of these components while keeping the lessons fun and motivating while also adapting his teaching to my individual strengths and weaknesses. I’d heavily recommend TJ!

I genuinely think I couldn’t have asked for a better (first) vocal coach. I went into the first lesson pretty scared and nervous as it was a completely new experience for me. TJ was super friendly from the offset and has an awesome aura of trust and comfort that’s vital, especially for (horrible sounding) beginners like me. I’ve already had two lessons with him in which we identified key areas of improvement, and I plan to have many more.

Tj is very skilled and extremely knowledgeable, and he helped me a lot with trying to finesse my singing voice. He taught me things I didn't even know were possible to do with my voice. He also has a great personality and is always positive and will support you every step of the way.
