About Andrew
Philosophy:
As a teacher and tutor, I work hard to create a warm atmosphere for students whilst adhering strictly to high academic standards. I believe that all pupils have the potential to reach their dream job or university course, and that 1-2-1 work is one of the most effective ways to help students confidence in themselves and in the material.
I see myself as the steward of the future prospects of my pupils. It is my job to create the positive learning environment that will lay the foundation for their future success. All students should be given the tools to become model citizens and to get the job or university course of their dreams.
I follow a knowledge-based approach, with rigorously planned lessons based around 3-4 key learning points, followed by lots of questions, exercises, and checking to ensure targets are hit.
University:
I have a Masters degree and Post Graduate diploma in Economics from the University of Glasgow, an MSci in Chemistry from Warwick University, and a PGCE from Goldsmiths College, University of London. Whilst at Glasgow University, my Coursework was judged to be 2nd in quality out of a class of 80.
Prizes and Scholarships :
I was commended for my Coursework whilst at the University of Glasgow
Other Qualifications :
I am a Grade 7 standard Pianist, and a National CREST examiner for Science
Growing up in Scotland, I achieved 5 A grades in Highers: English, Maths, Physics, Chemistry, History, and an A and B in Advanced Higher English and Chemistry
