About Stephen
Hi all, my name is Stephen and I am currently a PhD candidate at the University of Glasgow. I study viruses and the ways that proteins help viruses get into cells to cause infection.
I completed my undergraduate in 2020 in Microbiology BSc (Hons), graduating with a First Class Honours and top of my class. My postgraduate studies were put on hold due to the pandemic, but in October of 2021, I began my PhD at the University of Glasgow.
However, getting into higher education was not the easiest task for me and I know that a steady and helping hand is what some folk need to truly excel - I aim to be that helping hand to help unlock your child's potential. I take a learner-orientated approach to tutoring, understanding that what works for one, may not work for another.
Previously, I have been a Leader for the Scouts, specifically for the Beaver Scouts who range from 6-8 years old. I was extremely conscious then, as I am now, that folk learn at different rates, and need things explained in different ways so they understand what it is you're trying to tell them - whether that be explaining a scientific concept, or teaching young children how to safely cook over an open fire (which is truly a trial by fire to ensure you get your message across!).
Moreover, I hope to make the learning experience fun. Science/Biology is my passion and I hope to enthuse each learner with an excitement about science, one that they carry with them long after I have finished tutoring them.
