About Elizabeth
I'm a rising high school senior in San Diego with a passion for teaching the fun of STEM. I've tutored middle school girls in Arduino coding and STEMLingo sensors (2024-2026) through AAUW Tech Trek, developed coding and engineering curriculum for a Girl Scout tech camp, and worked as a chemistry aide at Gateways. Through my school, I've also done peer tutoring for Integrated Math II, Integrated Math III, AP Chemistry, AP Physics, and AP Environmental Science.

I see math and science as pattern recognition and critical thinking, not just memorization. I demonstrate concepts visually, then explain them multiple ways (graphs, tables, and equations) so students can see the same idea, and apply it to word problems and real-world situations.
I usually start by hearing the student's current thought process on a problem and build from there, introducing other ways to approach it. From there we work through concepts using visuals and multiple representations (graphs, tables, equations), then apply them to real-world or word problems.
I also like connecting ideas across subjects, like showing how quadratics model projectile motion in physics, or how logarithms are used to calculate pH in chemistry. Overall, I strive to dive deeper and "stretch your thinking" while making every lesson engaging and fun.
