About Mahnoor

Teaching is my passion. I strongly believe it's important to do what we love considering we spend 50% of our time working. This is what essentially got me hooked to the idea of considering teaching as a profession. I started tutoring my peers in 2016 once I was selected Business Representative at my school during A'levels. I successfully earned the position as a Teaching Assistant at my university further allowing me to tutor students.
Economics and accounting, I believe, are important subjects which we must have knowledge about. Without these the corporate and public sector would be in disarray where stakeholders wouldn't be able to make informed decisions regarding important matters. Hence, teaching such subjects goes in line with my personal goal to help give back to the community.

About the lesson

Being a friendly person who absolutely loves building strong relationships, I like to adopt a method where I not only teach students, but connect with them, and create a bond. Volunteering as a coach at my university gave me the opportunity to mentor incoming freshman regarding courses, and societies. Direct them on how to manage work-life balance, facilitate them to come out of their shells and unify them into working together as a team. Interacting with GCSE, O'Level and A'Level students as well as freshmen, I'd like to take relatively shorter but more frequent lessons as studies suggest student's attention span lasts up to 15 minutes, giving a maximum of 60 minutes per lesson. However, I'd like to have a more flexible approach and finalize hours with students as each student will vary in terms of what suits them best. I personally always understand best when I study early in the mornings or late at night. Keeping that in mind I'd like to finalize hours after discussions with students. Feedback of any kind is key. I'd informally ask students if they would like to change anything around and also ask for written detailed feedback at certain times ensuring I know what's been working well and what I need to modify.
I'll be starting my lessons with a brief summary of topics that will be discussed in the lecture and then proceed with the lesson. I will be making use of PowerPoint to conduct my lessons online over Zoom.
