About John
I was a professor of animation storyboards (and cinematic screenwriting) at Seneca College for 20 years.
I am now retired but still have the zeal and energy to teach!
I studied Animation arts at Sheridan College (graduating in 1981).
Since 1986, I have worked as a freelance storyboard artist/ scriptwriter for the animation industry.
I have worked on hundreds of shows for dozens of studios across Canada, the US and abroad.
I've worked for Corus Entertainment, Walt Disney, Nickleodeon. Lucas Films, Mattel and many other companies.

I have 20 years of teaching experience as a professor of Animation storyboards (including script writing) at Seneca College.
Teaching English purely in terms of being "grammatically correct" is fine (but tedious and boring because it is too mechanical).
I teach English to communicate, first and foremost; and to think of language more visually.
Storyboards are like comic books, and anyone who has read a comic book will realize how much can be communicated with a minimum amount of words (less is more).
Coupled with the images (that go with the words) in a comic book, it's clear that thinking visually through language is a key to learning English more easily (and with more enjoyment).
My lesson plans include application of English with visuals.
(Not necessarily from comic books exclusively).
I also use paintings and illustrations, movie stills, screen-shots from films, children's books, magazine covers, spot illustrations, etc. as a launching point for teaching English.
My lessons will be geared to foreign students and/or students from middle grade to high school; I also am open to teaching adults.
