About Tabitha

Hi, I’m Tabitha! I’m a qualified primary teacher with a PGCE and a passion for helping children feel confident in their learning.

Throughout my teacher training, I gained experience across the primary age range, with a particular focus on Year 1. I loved seeing how much children can achieve when they are given the right encouragement, support and opportunities to learn in a way that works for them.

I’m a warm, patient and enthusiastic person, and building positive relationships with children is something I really value. I want children to feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and trying again without worrying about getting things wrong.

I’m particularly passionate about helping children who may have lost confidence in a subject. Sometimes a child doesn't need to be told to work harder — they need someone to explain something in a different way, celebrate their progress and remind them that they can do it.

Outside of teaching, I have a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Art and love all things creative, so I naturally bring a little creativity and fun into my teaching wherever I can.

I’m really looking forward to getting to know each child I work with and helping them discover that learning can be something they genuinely enjoy.

About the lesson

I believe children learn best when they feel confident, supported and able to make mistakes without feeling embarrassed. My English lessons are friendly, encouraging and tailored to each child, with the aim of helping them not only improve their skills, but also feel more confident in themselves as learners.

I am a qualified primary teacher with a PGCE and experience teaching across the primary age range, particularly in Year 1. I can support children with phonics, reading, comprehension, spelling, grammar, writing and creative writing, as well as providing general support with their schoolwork.

Every child learns differently, so I adapt my lessons to their individual needs and starting point. We might use stories, games, discussion, practical activities, reading and writing tasks to make learning engaging rather than relying on worksheets alone. I use questioning and ongoing assessment to identify areas that need more practice and to celebrate the progress a child is making.

Whether your child is just beginning to develop their reading and phonics skills, needs some extra support with their writing, or would simply benefit from greater confidence in English, I will work at their pace and help them recognise what they are capable of.

Lessons are suitable for children aged 4–11 and are usually 45–60 minutes, depending on the child's age and needs.
