About Naomi

Hello! I'm Naomi, a qualified English teacher with five years of experience teaching in a leading independent school. I teach English across Key Stages 3-5, helping pupils of all abilities grow in confidence and achieve their potential.

Alongside my classroom teaching, I work as an AQA GCSE English Literature examiner, giving me valuable insight into what examiners are looking for and how students can maximise their marks. I am also currently completing a Master's in Education, allowing me to continually develop my teaching and stay up to date with the latest educational research.

I believe that the best learning happens when pupils feel supported, challenged and genuinely enjoy the process. I aim to create a positive, encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and building their confidence. Every lesson is carefully tailored to the individual, whether they need support with core skills, preparation for the 11+, or are striving for the highest GCSE or A-Level grades.

I am passionate about helping young people discover that English is far more than an exam subject. Developing strong reading, writing and communication skills opens doors throughout education and beyond, and it is incredibly rewarding to help pupils achieve results they are proud of.

About the lesson

As a qualified English teacher with five years of classroom experience in a leading independent school, I tailor every lesson to the individual pupil. Whether a student is aiming for a top GCSE grade, preparing for the 11+, or looking to build confidence in English, I create engaging, structured lessons that target their specific needs and goals.

My teaching combines explicit instruction, regular modelling, guided practice and retrieval activities to develop both knowledge and confidence. I place a strong emphasis on exam technique, analytical writing and critical thinking, helping pupils understand not only what to write, but how to communicate their ideas effectively. Lessons are adapted to suit each learner's pace and learning style, with frequent feedback to ensure steady progress.

A typical lesson lasts 60 minutes, although longer sessions can be arranged for students preparing for examinations. Each lesson includes clear learning objectives, targeted practice and personalised feedback, with optional homework to consolidate learning between sessions.

Alongside my teaching experience, I am an AQA GCSE English Literature examiner and am currently completing a Master's in Education. This enables me to provide up-to-date knowledge of assessment criteria, common misconceptions and the skills that examiners are looking for.

I offer online tuition for pupils preparing for the 11+, GCSE English Language and Literature, and A-Level English. My lessons are suitable for students who want to improve their confidence, strengthen their writing and analysis, or achieve the highest grades in public examinations.
