About Katherine
I am a qualified Art & Design teacher (PGCE + QTS) with experience teaching in primary and secondary schools, supporting GCSE and A-Level coursework, and helping students prepare portfolios for college and art school applications. I am also a practising artist with scenic art experience for BBC and theatre productions, and I currently work across drawing, painting, murals, felt work and mixed media in my own practice. Alongside my teaching, I am completing an MA in Art Therapy at the University of Chester, which has strengthened my understanding of how creativity supports confidence, identity and wellbeing.
I am neurodivergent myself and I have many years of experience supporting neurodivergent and anxious learners, so I approach tuition in a flexible, encouraging and person-centred way. I understand how intimidating creative subjects can feel, especially under exam pressure, and I work hard to create a supportive atmosphere where students can develop both their skills and their confidence.
Students and parents can feel reassured that I am reliable, well-organised, and genuinely invested in helping learners make progress. Whether supporting exam coursework, building a portfolio for creative studies, or helping adults reconnect with their creativity, I take pride in helping students grow in both ability and enjoyment.

My lessons are flexible, creative and person-centred. I believe that art becomes meaningful when it connects to who we are, so I often encourage learners to explore interests, experiences and symbolism while developing practical skills. I work across drawing, painting, mixed media, felt work and mural-scale approaches, and I adapt my style depending on whether the student needs structured guidance (e.g. GCSE coursework steps) or a more exploratory creative process.
A typical lesson is 60 minutes, although younger children or neurodivergent learners sometimes benefit from 45-minute sessions, and adult learners can extend to 90 minutes for project work if desired.
I am a qualified Art & Design teacher (PGCE + QTS) with experience teaching KS2–KS5 in schools, supporting GCSE and A-Level coursework, and helping students build portfolios for college and art school applications. I am also a practising artist with scenic art experience for BBC and theatre productions, and I am currently completing an MA in Art Therapy, which informs my reflective and neurodivergent-friendly approach.
My lessons are suitable for children, teenagers and adults — including GCSE and A-Level students, college and art school applicants, beginners returning to creativity later in life, and neurodivergent or anxious learners who benefit from a flexible and encouraging approach.
