About Lauren
I am a certified art educator with over 23 years of teaching experience and an active professional career as a fine artist. I have taught students of all ages and ability levels, from beginners discovering their creative voice to advanced artists preparing portfolios. My background in both education and professional practice allows me to offer structured, high-quality instruction that produces real, lasting results.
My teaching philosophy is rooted in strong foundations, thoughtful guidance, and consistent encouragement. I believe every student can grow as an artist when given clear instruction, purposeful practice, and individualized support. My lessons balance technical skill development with creative expression, helping students build confidence, discipline, and artistic independence.
As a working artist who regularly exhibits and collaborates within the arts community, I bring real-world insight into every lesson. Students learn not only how to draw and paint, but also how to think like artists, develop professional habits, and take pride in their work.
I am known for maintaining high standards in a supportive and respectful learning environment. Families and students can expect punctuality, preparation, clear communication, and a commitment to each learner’s success. Every lesson is thoughtfully planned and tailored to the student’s goals, learning style, and experience level.
Whether a student is pursuing fine arts as a future career, preparing for advanced coursework, or simply seeking meaningful creative enrichment, I provide professional, reliable, and personalized instruction designed to help them reach their full potential.

I combine over 23 years of classroom teaching experience with my ongoing professional art practice to provide structured, skill-based fine arts instruction. My approach balances strong technical foundations with creative exploration, helping students develop confidence, discipline, and a personal artistic voice.
I believe great artists are built through consistent practice, clear instruction, and meaningful feedback. Each lesson is personalized to meet the student’s goals, learning style, and experience level.
My instruction is rooted in classical foundations and contemporary practice. Lessons focus on:
• Observational drawing and proportion
• Understanding light, shadow, and form
• Color theory and paint mixing
• Brush control and layering techniques
• Composition and visual storytelling
• Acrylic and oil painting methods
• Developing professional studio habits
I use step-by-step demonstrations, guided practice, and real-time feedback. Students learn why techniques work, not just how to copy an image.

Ms. Luna is an extraordinary artist and professor. She can make the least experienced artist understand fundamentals or take a more experienced artist and teach them how to get to the next level.
