About Matthew
Hi, I'm Matthew - I was born in Chicago and I'm new to tutoring but not new to helping my peers which every artist is doing on this journey! I received my MFA from Hoffberger School of Painting at MICA, and have held shows globally, with some of my work being part of the permanent collection at the Whitney Museum. I'm currently learning how to surf and skydive. My recent hobby is longboard dancing.

My teaching methodology will be informed by a Master's understanding of painting. Like a painting process of finishing the painting in each move - I'll work with you to see you are already capable of masterpieces.
I was trained formally since attending a performing arts high school, I received my MFA from the Hoffberger School of Painting at MICA in Baltimore.
I will focus on balancing process and theory based practices, I will have a syllabus prepared - offer insight and constructive critiques of your paintings as well. I will make sure you have plenty to work from and have a portfolio prepared when we’re done.
I can also provide suggested reading or research, informed by my Master’s degree.
