About Ahmed

I am working now as Physics teacher at high school at Union City , NJ, USA and I was working as assistant professor of physic at Cairo and Qatar universities , My relevant qualifications include my Master of Science in Physics and my Bachelor of Science in Physics and Astronomy. Also of note is my position as Teaching Assistant for the physics and Astronomy department at Cairo University for eight years. In this role, I was responsible for teaching Physics/ Math/ Astronomy courses for undergraduate students. These responsibilities included, preparing laboratory experiments, instructing students on how to follow laboratory protocols and safety guidelines, grading lab reports and quizzes, and giving feedback. Moreover, I worked as a teaching assistant for the Mathematics, Statistics, and Physics department at Qatar university in Doha, Qatar. Currently, I am work as physics teacher for (AP Physics course) at Rising star Academy, NJ, USA. Working for two universities and high school in three different countries (Egypt, Qatar and USA) gave me an extensive experience in teaching Science for college students of different backgrounds. It’s very amazing and rewarding experience.

About the lesson

As an undergraduate student in Egypt, I viewed my professors as role models and stars. I wanted to have a special connection with them. I tried to achieve that goal by studying hard to be the top ranked student in my class, so one day I would be their colleague. They in return appreciated my efforts and they kept in encouraging me till I became their college. From this experience, I came to the conclusion that encouraging students is one of the most effective teaching strategies and can be life changing. Hence, my teaching philosophy greatly relies on encouraging my students and reinforcing their desire to learn.
For instance, I'm friendly with my students, but I do so without losing control over the situation. Therefore, I always try to keep a close contact with students. Nevertheless, absences and negative attitudes are not accepted.
At the beginning of each semester, I explain to the students my grading system. I tell them how many reports and quizzes to expect. I spend too much time in grading the students' lab reports to provide them with as much feedback as possible.
I believe Competition among students is very important in order to motivate them. Therefore, I set up competitions among all the working groups; for example, I offer them bonus credits for the group who will achieve perfectly the objectives of each experiment.
I take my time to explain to students the tasks of each experiment clearly and how to verify those tasks. If required, sometimes I explain to them individually what they have to do and how they can do it.
My office is always open to students to come and ask any question related to their activities and tasks in addition to their office hours. I spend most of the day with students, reviewing their calculation and their data.
