About Sisanda
My name is Sisanda, and I am a PhD Candidate in Medical Science at the University of Adelaide with a strong background in health and medical sciences. Over the years, I’ve completed a Master of Philosophy (Medical Science), a Graduate Certificate in Public Health, and a Bachelor of Health and Medical Science, achieving a GPA of 6.875/7.0. My current PhD research focuses on developing new therapies for children with ulcerative colitis at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital. I choose to tutor because I believe education has the power to transform lives. Throughout my own studies, I’ve experienced the difference that great teachers and mentors can make, and I want to provide that same support to my students. Teaching allows me to share my knowledge of science while helping students overcome challenges, build confidence, and achieve their goals. For me, tutoring is not only about improving grades — it’s about sparking curiosity, encouraging critical thinking, and inspiring students to see their own potential. I want every student I work with to feel capable, supported, and motivated to reach their best.

I take a personalised and structured approach to tutoring, tailoring each lesson to the student’s individual needs, strengths, and learning style. My teaching methodology combines clear explanations of key concepts with interactive problem-solving and practical examples to help students not only understand the material but also apply it with confidence. I encourage active participation, critical thinking, and regular feedback to build strong foundations and independent learning skills.
Typical lessons run for 60 minutes, though I can adapt session length depending on the student’s goals and requirements. Lessons are carefully planned to cover core theory, practice questions, and time for addressing specific difficulties.
I have over three years of experience tutoring high school students in General Science, Biology, and Chemistry, as well as teaching first-year medical students at the University of Adelaide. This experience has equipped me with both subject expertise and effective teaching strategies to support students at different levels of study.
My lessons are best suited for students in Years 7–12, including those preparing for exams, as well as first-year university students who want to strengthen their understanding of science subjects and succeed in their courses.

Details
My standard rate is $100 per hour. This reflects my qualifications as a PhD Candidate in Medical Science with extensive tutoring and university teaching experience, as well as the personalised support I provide.

Ongoing feedback and progress support.
If students require longer sessions, additional hours will be charged at the same hourly rate ($100/hr). Discounts may be available for students who book a block of sessions in advance.
