About Bilal Mahmood

Hello! My name is Bilal, and I am a University of London graduate with over four years of experience as an online tutor. I have had the privilege of teaching students across primary, secondary, 11+, and GCSE levels, helping them build confidence, improve their understanding, and achieve their academic goals.

I decided to become a tutor because I genuinely enjoy helping students discover that they are capable of much more than they often believe. I understand that every student learns differently, and I find it rewarding to adapt my teaching approach to help each individual overcome challenges and develop confidence in their abilities. Seeing a student grasp a difficult concept, improve their grades, or become more enthusiastic about learning is what motivates me as a teacher.

As a tutor, I aim to create a supportive and encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes, as these are important parts of the learning process. My lessons are tailored to each student's needs and focus not only on academic improvement but also on developing problem-solving skills, independent thinking, and a positive attitude towards learning.

About the lesson

I believe that every student learns differently, so I tailor my teaching approach to suit each individual's learning style, strengths, and areas for development. My lessons are designed to be engaging, supportive, and structured, helping students build both confidence and a strong understanding of the subject.

I use a step-by-step teaching methodology, breaking complex concepts into manageable parts and ensuring students fully understand the fundamentals before progressing to more challenging topics. I encourage active participation through guided questioning, worked examples, independent practice, and regular review of previous learning to reinforce understanding and improve long-term retention. I also provide constructive feedback and strategies to help students develop effective study habits and problem-solving skills.

My typical lessons last 60 minutes, although I can offer 45-minute or 90-minute sessions depending on the student's age, needs, and learning goals. Each lesson is carefully planned to include explanation of new concepts, interactive practice, and opportunities to address any questions or difficulties the student may have.

I am a University of London graduate with over four years of online tutoring experience. During this time, I have supported students from diverse backgrounds and abilities, helping them improve their academic performance, build confidence, and achieve their educational goals. I have experience teaching both one-to-one lessons and preparing students for examinations through targeted and structured support.

My lessons are suitable for primary and secondary school students, including those preparing for 11+ entrance examinations. I provide support in subjects such as Mathematics, English, Verbal Reasoning, and Non-Verbal Reasoning. In addition, I have experience teaching GCSE students, helping them develop a secure understanding of key concepts, strengthen exam technique, and prepare effectively for their assessments. Whether a student requires assistance catching up with schoolwork, extending their understanding, or preparing for important examinations, I aim to create a positive and encouraging learning environment where they can reach their full potential.
