About Sam

I am a 4th Year Biomedical Sciences student at the University of Oxford. In 2023, I achieved A*A*A*A in A level Biology, Chemistry, Maths and Physics respectively. This was mainly achieved through a large amount of independent study. Throughout this process, I gained a thorough understanding of both the underlying scientific concepts and exam specific techniques needed to succeed. I also spent a lot of time researching and experimenting with different learning and revision strategies. By the time of my exams, I had developed a revision system that consistently worked for me. My aim is to help students develop the same understanding, confidence and effective study habits so they can achieve the best results they're capable of.

About the lesson

I offer online tutoring for GCSE and A-Level Biology, with lessons tailored to each student's individual needs and goals. Whether you're looking to strengthen your understanding of difficult topics, improve your exam technique, or prepare for mocks and final exams, I aim to make lessons engaging, supportive, and focused on achieving measurable progress.

As a fourth-year Integrated Master's student in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Oxford, I have a strong academic background in both Biology and Chemistry. Having completed A-Levels relatively recently myself, I understand the challenges students face and the skills needed to succeed in today's exams.

My teaching focuses on developing a deep understanding of the subject rather than simply memorising facts. I use clear explanations, active recall, and regular exam-style questions to reinforce learning and build confidence. I also share revision strategies and my own flashcards and study resources, which I developed throughout my A-Level studies and have continued to refine during my degree.

Lessons are typically 60 minutes long, although shorter or longer sessions can be arranged if preferred. At the beginning of our lessons, we'll identify your strengths and the areas you'd like to improve, then work through topics at a pace that suits you. We'll regularly revisit previous material to ensure long-term retention and track your progress over time.

My lessons are suitable for A-Level students of all abilities, from those looking to build confidence in the basics to those aiming for the highest grades.
