About Vaakini

I am a Biomedical Science graduate, having studied at Britannia school (Ipswich) to Colchester County High School for girls (high school) to Newcastle for my degree.

During school I myself had multiple tutors over the years so personally know what it feels like as the students, sometimes too shy to ask questions, tired after school or plain bored. I know what works and what does to keep you engaged and inspired while working on tough problems and concepts.

Beyond that, I have developed a fierce passion for science and it is a deep shame that most people's reaction to me doing science was "Wow! You must be really smart! Science is so hard". For many children, science is seen as a big scary subject instead of a super interesting, visionary area of study. I want to change that and make science less daunting, more accessible and easily affordable.

My hard work of passing 11+, getting 9s in GCSEs and A*AAA in A levels - all those notes, all those textbooks and exam tips - can not just end with me but deserve to be passed down to future students and hopefully inspire some new scientists down the road!

About the lesson

I have been tutoring science-subjects for 4 years, since I started university. Having coached children with learning difficulties to 'high-achieving' students, I can adapt my teaching style to fit you.

My approach to teaching is through developing genuine curiosity in the subject which naturally improves deep understanding of the subject, and with it memory and great grades!

First, we will map out a timeline considering all the topics we need to cover, the deadlines and your personal goals.

When beginning a new topic, we will gauge your baseline understanding, then we will go through the exam specification and topic contents as you create your own revision notes, ending with a quick summary and quiz to check understanding.

The next lesson will begin with checking your understanding of the previous lesson before we build on the knowledge with the next topic.

* Bio; Chem; Psych; (other subject questions welcome)
* GCSE; A-level; University level
* 1-to-1 / 2-to-1 (bring a friend!)
* 1-2h Online

The goal is to create long-term understanding of the topic as well as exam-tailored notes to secure the higher grades. I only ask for students to come with a fresh mind and ask lots of questions and I can guarantee I can get them to their goals.
