I was in her her tutor group all through secondary school as well as her student for GCSE and A-Level art classes, and I can confidently say that her influence was life-changing. She always took the time to understand our individual strengths and challenges and guide when we were overhelmed with school work in A-levels.

Thanks to her support and guidance, I achieved my highest A-Level grade in her subject. But nore than that she was somoene who changed the way I saw school work and motivated me to be the best i could be.

I had the pleasure of being taught by Shivani during my Art A-Levels, and what an amazing, memorable two years that was! I had changed schools to pursue Art at A-Level, and Shivani was instantly so welcoming. We got on really well together due to our shared love of the subject and the inclusive atmosphere she created in the classroom and studio.

At the start of the two years, I had no idea where to begin. This is where Shivani's helped me break down my work into manageable chunks, week by week, which was incredibly helpful as I get stressed quite easily. I knew what I was good at and didn't have the confidence to experiment outside of that. But with Shivani's support, encouragement, and guidance, my confidence grew and I started to experiment with different ideas, textures, and mediums. She made me more curious and explorative in what I could create. Looking back, Shivani could see my potential before I could!

I would recommend working with Shivani without a doubt. She is an exceptional teacher who brings out the best in her students and makes the learning experience truly enjoyable.

Where do I start?
As an autistic, scared 14 year old in an all boys school, I had it rough. Both academically and socially, I struggled massively. I knew I had a creative side in me but needed guidance on how to express it. This is where Shivani came in and directed my artistic ambitions onto paper. She not only helped me with countless artistic skills but gave me the confidence to believe in the journey I found my self on during each piece. If it was embracing my mistakes or adding additional texture or moods that became apparent as she helped me explore my skills I never even thought I had. Shivani believed in me, in turn made me believe in myself, that is a teacher.

Not only in education but also in emotional support did Shivani excel. She was one of the very few I knew would have the right answers if I ever felt bullied by anyone from the school. I knew she knew how I felt and always helped me feel better than the bullies every time.

When an autistic person says they have a particular teacher that made them feel understood, those teachers remain in their memories for life and Miss Carter was one of 3 teachers from that school that I can honestly say I am PROUD to have been part of their educational careers.

I had the absolute pleasure of being taught by Shivani during my GCSEs, and I can confidently say she was one of the most inspiring teachers I’ve ever had. As my Art and Design teacher, she didn’t just teach me creative skills—she gave me the confidence to explore, experiment, and think outside the box. The techniques and lessons she shared have stayed with me long after school, and I still use them in my working life today.
