About Hina

Hi, I'm Hinako! I was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan, and I now live in Melbourne, Australia. I'm a native Japanese speaker and I love sharing my language and culture.

After university, I worked at an IT company in Japan for 4 years, so I can also help with business Japanese. I started teaching as a volunteer (including teaching children), enjoyed it so much that I decided to become a Japanese teacher.

In my free time I love travelling, cooking, playing guitar, and studying languages — I'm learning English myself, so I really understand what it's like to learn a new language!

About the lesson

Learning Japanese can feel very different from other languages, so I tailor every lesson to your level, goals, and learning style.

• Beginners to intermediate: textbook study + lots of speaking practice to build confidence and solid grammar foundations.
• Advanced: real materials like manga, novels, articles and videos — your choice or my recommendation.
• JLPT preparation available (N5–N1).
• I make my own materials, and after each lesson I send you a summary so you can always look back at what we covered.
