I believe that the best way to learn is to tackle questions and texts head on. I will read through texts with students and help them to be able to recognise and define literary devices as we go along. We will build a series of intensive notes together in the process.
For essay writing, I will provide students with a simple, easy to remember essay writing structure which they will be able to refer to and reproduce cohesively in future assessments.
I will help students identify and comprehend key thematic concerns and motifs in their set texts in order for them to be able to extract the most relevant and useful quotes to construct an essay that shows a clear understanding and engagement with the text.
I can assist students who struggle with general literacy such as reading and writing or students who’s first language is not English and struggle with their sentence structure and general articulation. I will help students build a cohesive vocabulary by creating queue cards together, setting a handful of words each week to be tested on the following week, for spelling and meaning. We will also read together as well as set reading for the student to do for the following week, as I believe language is best learned through personal reading.
My lessons will be fun, colourful, engaging and pressure-free. I believe that young students learn best when encouraged to enjoy and look forward to their lessons.
