About Odessa

Tēna koutou e te iwi whānui, I come from Te Tairāwhiti, Gisborne East Coast from a little place called Manutuke. I am a mother of 4 who was one of the first students of Kura Kaupapa Māori in Gisborne.
I have studied and worked in Kohanga Reo and graduated from Te Wānanga o Aotearoa with a Bachelor of Teaching in 2015.
Raising my own children in Kohanga Reo and total immersion I have always known how special our culture is.
My passions and hobbies are Art, Fishing, Diving, Baking and reconnecting with all my iwi.

About the lesson

Beginner and Intermediate lessons individualized to what you want to learn. From basic pronunciation, everyday words, useful phrases, proverbs with fun free activities to consolidate learning.
Each lesson we will recap what’s learned followed by new learnings that will open your mind, soul and heart to Te Ao Māori.

Our goal is to keep talking in Te Reo starting off with basics (mihimihi, Karakia, pepeha) and work our way to sentences. Plan is set. Mauriora!!

Very fast and eager learning who already has basic pronunciation however being a new language we will start at letters- vowels and consonants. He is learning an individualized pepeha and will review each time we meet and then add on new learnings to build knowledge base.

Now that I’ve grown up becoming an adult I confidently speak te reo Māori when, and where I want to, without being shy. Without this amazing teacher I wouldn’t be expressing my culuture in the English language and Māori language
