About Eimear
I am a Medical Doctor with a strong background in science, academia, and medical research, currently holding both MD and BSc degrees. Throughout my own academic journey, I was fortunate to benefit from excellent teachers and mentors who played a significant role in developing my understanding, confidence, and passion for learning. I recognize the importance of having a supportive and knowledgeable teacher, particularly when approaching complex subjects and preparing for important examinations.
Alongside clinical practice, I am actively involved in primary research within the fields of medical and surgical education. I have authored multiple publications focusing on surgical education and simulation-based medical training, and have presented research at European and international conferences in medical education, surgical education, and vascular surgery.
As a tutor, I enjoy breaking down challenging concepts into clear, understandable components and working collaboratively with students to develop a deeper understanding of the material. I strongly believe that no topic is beyond a student's ability once it is explained in the right way, and my aim is to help students build the confidence and critical thinking skills needed to approach difficult concepts independently.
Outside of medicine and academia, I enjoy maintaining an active lifestyle through running, hiking, and traveling. I have a particular passion for languages and currently speak five languages: Irish (Gaeilge), French, Italian, Russian, and Polish. I also enjoy playing traditional music on the fiddle.
I hope to bring the same enthusiasm, curiosity, and encouragement that I experienced from my own mentors to every student I teach, helping them develop both their knowledge and confidence to achieve their goals.

I have extensive experience delivering tutoring both in person and through online platforms. Currently, due to geographical considerations, lessons are offered online, allowing students from across Ireland and beyond to access personalised, high-quality tuition from the comfort of their own home.
Online lessons are conducted through a reliable video conferencing platform suited to the individual student, including Microsoft Teams or Google Meet, ensuring a seamless and interactive learning experience. Sessions maintain the same level of engagement and structure as in-person teaching, with opportunities for discussion, active questioning, and real-time application of concepts.
Lessons are tailored to the individual needs, learning style, and academic goals of each student, with sessions beginning from 1 hour in duration. Longer sessions or structured revision programmes can be arranged depending on the student's requirements.
Teaching is delivered using professionally designed PowerPoint presentations, with comprehensive lesson notes provided as PDF resources following each class. These materials combine my own carefully developed teaching notes, refined through years of tutoring experience, with a focus on high-yield concepts and commonly challenging areas that students need to master.
My teaching approach prioritises conceptual understanding over rote memorisation. By developing a strong understanding of the underlying principles, students gain the flexibility and confidence required to apply their knowledge effectively to a wide range of exam-style questions.
Lessons are highly interactive, encouraging students to actively engage with the material, ask questions, and develop problem-solving skills. Regular review sessions incorporate past examination papers and exam-style questions, helping students refine their exam technique, identify knowledge gaps, and maximise their performance.
My goal is to provide a structured, supportive, and engaging learning environment that helps students develop both the knowledge and confidence required to succeed in Leaving Certificate Biology, medical entrance preparation, and medical school examinations.
