About Grace

Growing up, I was learning English, Arabic, Macedonian & French at the same time, which means that I know what it's like to juggle your current language(s) and the one you are trying to learn. Growing up as a foreigner in Egypt, I had to find different ways to learn language(s) and I will help you master the language in a fun, doable, and enthusiastic way (as many times as you want) in a way that you can understand.

I worked at a non-profit foundation teaching refugees (ages 18 -30) the english intermediate (B1) and beginner (A2+) level as well as preparing them for the IELTS and TOEFL exam.

Prior to that, I was a field-based Interpreter (Arabic-English-Macedonian) for refugee families and children to ensure that humanitarian services were provided efficiently at SOS's Children's village in the Northern Macedonian Refugee Camp.

I know I can learn a lot from my tutees, so I'll also be taking notes from you because it's not just one-sided.

About the lesson

Why haven't we learned how to study and how to learn? Now that I'm in my masters I realize that we have never been taught the most efficient and productive way to gain knowledge while still enjoying the process. I had to teach myself, the hard way.

We can start with what you learned, what you struggle to understand, how you best like to approach your work and what we can do to reach your full potential. With hard work and dedication, we do this together!

I also find it difficult when learning a new language...I am a person who feels vulnerable speaking a language I'm currently learning (Dutch).
But I will combine the life experience I have in learning a number of languages at once, being a teacher and tutor for 5+ years, and teaching/translating for refugees who were much older than me in order to help you master the language so that you can gain the confidence you want when speaking and communicating with others and I'll teach you about the culture (music, anecdotes etc) too!

I can teach students up till high school at an intermediate level. We can focus on speaking and then go from there!
