About Marcelo
I did my Bachelors of Science in Physics in Brazil, at the biggest university in Latin America, the University of São Paulo. There, I acquired a very well-rounded skill-set in physics and mathematics. I won awards in mathematics and physics competitions at the national and continental levels and moved to Canada to do my Masters's in Physics at the prestigious Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics. Currently, I work as a researcher in the physics of quantum fields in curved spacetimes. I have experience teaching people of many different backgrounds, and find great joy in teaching and seeing my students succeed.
Specifically, I can teach the following subjects from high school to college:
Physics:

I am passionate about physics and mathematics, and try to convey this passion while teaching. Many students think that they were not "made" for STEM subjects, but I believe anyone can succeed in them with the right teaching methodology.
I offer targeted programs, always guided by the belief that the student should take an active role in his learning. In my ideal class, we will start by discussing what difficulties the student has with the subjects. After this, I enjoy motivating the concepts, by relating them to interesting applications or by placing them in the bigger picture of physics or mathematics. We would then properly define and explain the concept, and apply it to example problems. Examples, in particular, are very useful because physics and mathematics can be abstract and the examples help us grip and motivate what we are doing. After all of this, we would work on problems together.
All the while, the focus is on discussing the material together. I ask many questions to make sure that the material is understood to the best quality, and always encourage questions and discussions on the topic. This brings life to physics and maths, and always makes the learning sessions more enjoyable!
