About Bethany

Hi everyone! I am a recent graduate from The London School of Economics. I tutor English up to and including GCSE level (achieved 2 A*'s, and 11 A*'s at GCSE) alongside any university application advice, whether it be regarding personal statement help or any general UCAS advice.

As a peer mentor in my school and an independent tutor, I have experience tutoring children for 5 years. Comfort in a learning environment is essential and I am happy to answer any question at all, however silly it may seem! I always ensure students know that if there is any uncertainty, they can ask me. As an out of classroom teacher, I am easy-going and friendly and hope to provide students with a fun and engaging learning experience.

About the lesson

With the new syllabuses in place for GCSE and A-Level students, I want to show students what exam boards want to see to get the top A*/9 grades. I want to make learning fun for students and build their confidence in their own abilities in maths or economics, enabling them to achieve their desired grades and maximise their academic potential. As a recent graduate from LSE, and as someone who has only fairly recently sat GCSE and A-Level Exams, I feel confident that I can provide up-to-date knowledge of what exam boards look for in the top level papers, given my recent experience and study tips I have to offer.

I will tailor sessions to the personal needs of the child. This may include using past papers from exam boards, developing individual skills and technique (eg. through use of exam board specifications), as well as homework help and revision tips. Content and application are vital and I will provide students with both skills.

Bethany is a great tutor, who I would highly recommend to anyone. She has been great with my 2 children, one of GCSE age and one in year 5. Bethany was a great tutor for both my son and daughter. My son's grade was boosted hugely due to Bethany's help, moving from a D in his Maths and English mocks to an A* and A in his results. My 11 year old daughter really benefits from Bethany's help in Maths/English/Science and I appreciate Bethany's flexibility to help with different topics across the board, at which she is very knowledgeable.
