About Alvaro

Hi! I'm a Spanish biologist currently pursuing my PhD in Genetics and Evolution here in Canberra. I have several years of experience teaching science both in academic settings and through private tutoring, and I’m passionate about making complex topics clear and engaging for students of all levels. About the lesson

My lessons are tailored to the individual needs and goals of each student. I combine a solid academic foundation with a flexible, dynamic, and supportive teaching style to make science approachable, logical, and engaging. Traditional, passive science classes based on endless rote memorization are definitely not my style; instead, I focus on building true logical understanding, helping students grasp the “why” behind the content so they can actually enjoy the learning process.
To achieve this, I completely avoid passive learning. I use diagrams, real-world examples, step-by-step explanations, and targeted practice exercises to help students master difficult concepts. I also adapt my methods depending on how each student learns best, whether they prefer visual aids, active problem-solving, structured discussion, or repetition.
Lessons typically last 60 minutes, but I can adjust the duration depending on your preferences and schedule. I have years of experience as a science tutor, working with students at secondary school, high school, and university levels. My academic background includes a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Biology, and I am currently completing a PhD focused on conservation genetics and evolutionary biology.
