About Irina

I am a TEFL certified tutor with 3 years of experience. I also have an extra qualification in teaching exam preparation.
In the past I used to work in international banking and in start-ups. My Business and Finance experience is of a particular value to students learning English to advance their careers.

About the lesson

I am a very patient English teacher. I teach English as a Foreign Language at all proficiency levels (Beginners to Advanced) and help with preparation for tests and exams (TOEFL, CAE).
I adjust my method according to the aims and preferences of the student. I particularly enjoy the Direct Method approach where only English language is used in class. It works well for students who aim to develop their Speaking and Listening skills. However, I switch to traditional grammar/translation approach or use mix of both should my students prefer to develop their Writing and Reading skills.
I have a dynamic and enthusiastic teaching style, however, if there are certain methods you prefer, I am open to discussion and adjustments.

If you are lucky enough to choose Irina as your tutor you will meet a highly intelligent, patient, interesting and engaging person. She has done so much from luxury fashion business woman to investment banking and editor to two published authors. Her knowledge of English literature would make most academics blush but at the same time with her sense of fun you are just as likely to hear quotes from Dad’s Army and Fawlty Towers. Most importantly she cares about you and your success and she will have you speaking the Queens/ Kings English as long as you follow her great advice and techniques.
