About Max

Hi! I'm Max. I am a high achieving academic student, having formerly attended a top and selective independent private school following success at 11+ and now studying for my GCSEs, achieving top band grades in English and the humanities. I love learning and also teaching and explaining concepts. I would use IT to create the best resources for your child to aid lessons and also to create an exciting learning experience. Furthermore, I would research curriculums, past papers and also read over any school reports and assessments to create a tailored learning journey for your child which I would deliver through instruction and set work. I would also be happy to offer group sessions. I have past work experience in professional industries, having completed paid work experience at one company where I did online sales entries and also organised stock and I did some work experience in my local constituency office where I did data entry work and also helped to coordinate an important event for constituents in the local and neighbouring constituency. My work experience allowed me to develop flawless administrative skills and excellent communication skills too.

About the lesson

My approach to lessons will be driven around building core skills, which I look at as "building blocks". Essentially, we will need to develop: - Comprehension & Understanding Skills; - Creative Writing & Composition Skills; - Spelling, Punctuation & Grammar Skills (SPaG). Of course, at different stages of Primary School or depending on your aims, some areas might need more building on than others - I will make sure to review this and tailor lessons accordingly. Lessons will be structured slightly differently depending on the lesson and the student - no two students can learn the same way. However, most lessons will include recaps and key skills as well as practice questions or discussion about texts or writing. Over time, as your child's confidence and skill level builds up, we will be able to move onto more independent work with thorough feedback. I will also make sure that students can continue to revisit areas of uncertainty, yet at the same time stretch beyond the curriculum, as I foster a love for and passion for English and learning, which will also lead to excellent character development as well as academic development (which independent selective schools love for interviews). I would be willing to teach any students in Primary School or at the 11+ stage for the time being! Lesson times could vary, although sets of half an hour lessons or one hour lessons would likely work best! Lessons would take place online, via zoom; google meet or an alternative online meetings platform!
