For me it's always and always starts from the basic. It's essential to spend sufficient amount of time on basics before starting a new topics.
Main focus after clearing the basics is the clearing concepts of particular as we go through subject, possibly in any 3-4 languages I know.

Since he has scored well in the NEET and as a MBBS student , he has in depth knowledge about the biology ! He knows which topics should be given more importance based on examinations . We can blindly trust him for accepting him as a teacher. He has better communication skill as well !
