About Heather
I have been a special education teacher for 9 years and counting specializing in reading difficulties and autism programming. I currently run my own autism classroom specializing in both behavior management and academics. I take an individualized approach to each students current and future needs and dedicate their lessons based on those needs. I have a bachelors degree in special education from the University of Northern Colorado, a master degree in Special Education from The University of Kansas, as well as a Masters degree in Special Education Intervention. This background has allowed me to specialize instruction based on need whether it be academics, behavior, or both. I have been successful in teaching students to read regardless or various barriers. I have a passion for teaching students with disabilities and strive to catch them up to speed.

I specialize in tailoring lessons to meet IEP goals as well as simply helping students catch up to grade level. My training and education is based on teaching beginning readers the tools they need to be successful when starting to read as well as maintain their skills.
