About Lucy

A Level Grades- Physics (A*), Mathematics (A), and English
Literature (A*)
GCSE- 8 grade 9s, 2 grade 8s.

I am an undergraduate physics student studying in London who has extensive experience tutoring GCSE AQA maths and triple science to students with a range of abilities fro over 3 years. I have helped some of my previous students achieve their potential in achieving 7s,8s and 9s.
I like to take a very focused approach in our tutoring sessions; together we will highlight key 'problem' topics and work hard on these in order to maximise grade achievement and help the student feel more confident in the subject.

About the lesson

As an undergraduate student studying at a top university who has more recently taken and succeeded in the new GCSE and A-Level exams, I can relate more keenly to the struggles and stresses of my students. I have been using the resources that I created and used to allow me to achieve almost all grade 9s at GCSE for the past 3 years to help students like me achieve their potential. My mission is to help demystify practical study skills and develop in my students analytical rigour so that they can achieve the grades they are capable of.

Since I have specialised in Maths, Physics, Biology and Chemistry, I can provide quality tutoring for maths and all three sciences for one student. This means my students do not need to spend time feeling comfortable and getting to know three separate tutors and I can combine 40 minute sessions for each science, 2hrs a week at the same hourly rate.

I like to tailor my lessons around the specific learning styles of my students so I will spend our first session getting to know how you learn best.

In a typical 1hr session we will:

1. Focus on a topic a student is unclear about by doing lots of exam style questions and marking as we go.
2. Reviewing problems the student has had that week.
3. Quick fire revision from difficult topic from previous sessions.

I aim to make our sessions as productive and helpful for you as possible so we will co-create our sessions and I will provide time for regular feedback.

My timetable is quite flexible. I am happy to work week days after school and weekends.

The majority of my students are studying for their GCSE but generally between the ages of 12-16.

Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?

Just GCSEs at the moment.

Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.

I use Zoom online sessions since it has many tools and features specially designed for interactive and visual learning. I am fully equipped with modern gadgets for e-learning. I use Google drive and docs to share files.
