About Rukiya

I have a BSc in Biomedical Science and an MSc in Stem Cells and Regenerative Medicine, giving me a strong academic foundation in Science. I also have experience studying education through a Secondary Science PGCE, which developed my understanding of lesson planning, adapting explanations and supporting different learning needs.

I am a warm, patient and encouraging tutor who genuinely enjoys helping young people feel more confident in their abilities.
I understand that every child learns differently and that some students need more time, reassurance or a different explanation before a topic clicks. I create a calm, non-judgemental space where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes.

About the lesson

My approach is supportive, structured and tailored to each student’s starting point. I aim to build confidence as well as knowledge, using clear explanations, worked examples, regular practice questions and gentle checking for understanding throughout the lesson.

For KS3 and GCSE Science, I break difficult topics into simple steps and link them to real-life examples. I help students strengthen their subject knowledge, learn how to answer exam-style questions effectively and develop revision methods that they can use independently. Lessons can cover Biology, Chemistry and Physics, with a focus on the areas the student finds most challenging.

For Arabic, lessons are adapted to the student’s level and goals, whether they are a beginner learning basic vocabulary and conversation, or a more advanced learner wanting to improve reading, writing, grammar and confidence speaking Arabic. I make lessons interactive and encouraging, using conversation, reading activities and short exercises.

Lessons are usually 60 minutes, although shorter lessons can be arranged for younger learners. Each session includes a clear aim, guided teaching, practice and a recap at the end. I may set a small optional task between lessons to help students retain what they have learnt.

My lessons are suitable for KS3 students (Years 7–9) and GCSE students (Years 10–11), including students who need extra support to build confidence, improve grades or prepare for assessments. Arabic lessons are available for children, teenagers and beginners who would like to develop their language skills in a patient and positive learning environment.
