About Frankie
As an experienced fine artist with a Painting and Printmaking degree from Virginia Commonwealth University, I have been painting professionally since 2015, exhibiting in galleries and shows across the United States. My work has received awards, been collected by private collectors, and is displayed in homes throughout the country.
As a landscape and plein air painter, I am well regarded in the Seattle area and am a member of Plein Air Washington Artists. I teach workshops at Cole Gallery and am represented by Goetze Art & Design.
In addition to my professional painting career, I have been teaching since 2013, working with students of all ages, backgrounds, and learning styles. My goal as an instructor is to provide clear guidance, strong technical foundations, and supportive mentorship so students feel confident in their growth as artists.

Every lesson is customized to each student’s experience level, interests, and learning style. Whether you’re just starting out or ready to take your work to the next level, I will guide you step by step toward stronger painting and drawing skills.
Landscape oil painting focuses on composition, value, color relationships, and creating convincing light and atmosphere. Students will learn how to simplify complex scenes, design stronger paintings, and develop confidence in working from reference photos or direct observation.
Plein air painting teaches students how to work outdoors from life, capturing changing light, weather, and atmosphere with clarity and efficiency. I guide students through setup, observation, quick decision-making, and building strong field studies that lead to stronger studio paintings.
Still life painting is one of the best ways to strengthen drawing, observation, and color control. Students learn how to understand form, edges, light, and composition while developing the discipline and sensitivity needed for strong oil painting.
Portrait and figure drawing builds the foundation for successful portrait painting in oils. Students will learn structure, proportion, anatomy, gesture, and value, creating a strong understanding of the human form that translates directly into stronger painted portraits.

Details
For plein air lessons, I provide an outdoor easel setup that students can use so they can comfortably experience painting outdoors without needing to invest in equipment right away. Paints and brushes can also be provided for the initial lessons, allowing beginners to get started with confidence. Students will be responsible for supplying their own canvases or panels from the beginning, and after the first few lessons, they will be expected to purchase their own painting materials. I provide a recommended supply list to help students choose quality materials that support long-term growth and success.
