About Akiko

Hello, I'm Akiko.
I was born in Japan and grew up there, though I have lived in Melbourne, Australia, for the last 20 years.
I love traveling, watching films, and going to gigs.
Before traveling to a country, I always try to learn the language as it makes the experience 100 times better.
Meeting local people and trying to communicate with them is so much fun. I can't wait for my next trip!

About the lesson

My lessons are casual and fun.
We will discuss your level and your goal in the first lesson and I will plan your lessons for the given time frame.
Depending on your interest, we can use Japanese books, music or films as leaning materials.
I'm also happy to assist in any school work for academic students.

Grace’s Japanese skills are very impressive! She can already read hiragana, katakana, and even some kanji. She also understands the meaning of the sentence. We can work towards her exam also improving her listening skill which I’m sure she’ll pick up very quickly. Well done for the first lesson Grace! :)

Perfect! Akiko has been giving my 9 year old daughter Japanese lessons for the last month. She is always on time, polite and friendly, a calm and paitient teacher and my daughter is really really enjoying the lessons and getting to know Akiko. It's really great hearing them together :)

Perfect! Akiko has been giving my 9 year old daughter Japanese lessons for the last month. She is always on time, polite and friendly, a calm and paitient teacher and my daughter is really really enjoying the lessons and getting to know Akiko. It's really great hearing them together :)

Nikki’s daughter was very bright, polite and fun to have a lesson with. We practiced some basic Japanese phrases, both speaking and writing. Her pronunciation is excellent and she copied Japanese characters very well for the first try. She is very good at drawing too and we could expand our lesson from what she drew such as animals and Japanese food. I’m very looking forward to the next lesson!

I really enjoyed our first lesson with Imilda’s daughter. She was very polite and interested in Japanese culture.
She is a quick learner and asked me questions to verify the sentence structures. Her pronunciation is excellent too. I’m looking forward to our next lesson!

Jason was a polite and quick learner. He already knew many Japanese phrases and his pronunciation was very good. He still gets confused with some of the Japanese characters so that’s something we can work on for the next few lessons.
