About Peter

I am passionate about physics and maths and its why I chose to study for a masters in physics at Birmingham University. I graduated with a first class degree in 2018.

I find it rewarding to help others improve and understand that it is not easy, having struggled personally when getting to grips with new concepts during my A-levels.

I have some experience tutoring GCSE mathematics in secondary school, which I did in my free time during the last year of my A-levels. At university I have worked in groups for projects and have undertaken tutor roles within the group, working through physics and maths on paper with groupmates.

Having taken these exams myself, and knowing how difficult it can be to understand the material, I can deliver a more informed tutoring experience. I am aware of common pitfalls and can explain concepts in a straightforward way.

I needed a tutor most in school when I was stuck on specific questions so in relation to this I will ask students to bring me questions that they are struggling with from their independent study. I am prepared to review the questions before our tutorial to make sure my answers are as concise as possible.

If improvement in certain areas is needed, I will be able to suggest questions that the student and I can work through together. They will attempt the question as independently as possible and I am there to clarify and help if they get stuck.

My tutorials will be largely student led, governed by whatever it is that the student wants to get out of the tutoring experience.
