About Maureen
I obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and I have been teaching since freshman year of college. I studied studio art, learning expertise in drawing, color and design, ceramics, sculpture, and painting. My concentration was in painting, and I have extensive knowledge of contemporary art, abstraction, mixed media, and realism. With a lifelong love for art, I have curated a practice since childhood. I believe art is an incredible means of self-expression and is also very therapeutic. I always encourage individuals to explore art even if they don't consider themselves an artist. After working with me, every student will have the confidence, skills, and passion to create whatever they set their mind to.

My teaching method combines technical skill and intuitive approaches. I can help you find an artistic flow that cultivates a sustainable practice by building confidence through technique and having fun through experimentation. With experience teaching elementary through college students, I can work with people of all ages effectively, meeting you wherever you're at in life. I'm an advocate for creating art that is motivated by passion, so I am flexible when working with students to teach whatever fuels their creative spirit. A lesson for a college student or adult could be expressive abstraction, still lifes, or creating a painterly landscape. A lesson for a high school student could be creating their dream room using a 1-point perspective. A lesson for a middle school student could be drawing or painting a self-portrait. A lesson for an elementary school student could be learning how to draw their favorite animal, with step-by-step instructions and guidance.
