I offer lessons to anyone in sixth grade through adult. I can cater the lesson to your goals and current level. I offer reduced group lessons for beginner and intermediate level students. I can also assist with storyboarding/continuity/narrative/character development/anatomy/composition for advanced artists/writers.
Each lesson will begin with a review of the previous assignments (or in the case of the first lesson for intermediate+ students, analysis of a portfolio). Then we will do warm-up which might involve a gesture drawing technique from technique classics such as The Natural Way to Draw by Kimon Nicolaїdes. Then we will begin laying out page(s) with pencil or honing the narrative (depending on what stage the student is in) which will be inked by hand or digitally in Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator (student will need to provide a laptop).
As a teacher, I strive to emphasize personalized instruction that caters to you learning style: auditory, visual, or tactile-kinesthetic. I always try to teach by demonstration when possible and maintain an organized group of supplemental assignments to do outside of tutoring sessions so you can reach your full potential. My belief is that teaching is both one of the greatest honors and responsibilities. Teachers often learn best themselves by teaching.
I have been teaching visual arts for over four years. I have probably taught about 290 students. Students have received their certification in Adobe Photoshop and learned to draw realistically and technically sound compositions while incorporating color theory.
I received my bachelor of fine arts with a concentration in photography from Louisiana State University in 2003 and have worked as a freelance graphic designer and full time studio and digital media art teacher since. I received my masters of fine arts in screenwriting in 2013 from the University of New Orleans.

Michelle was a great and understanding tutor. She always found a way to explain complicated topics in an easy to understand manor. Her sense of humor made the whole process very stress free. Would definitely recommend her to my friends.
