About Pamela
I am a painter, workshop leader and speaker. I teach acrylic workshops, and give private lessons in my Prescott studio. I prefer to work with beginner or intermediate skill students. My original paintings are contemporary landscapes. I am known for my color, energy and movement. I have a bachelors in social work and a masters in counseling psychology, before I was a full time artist I worked with families and children. I have taught small and large groups through out my career. I am currently designing an on-line acrylic painting course which will launch by the years end. I have been painting for 30 years and professionally for close to 20.
I love meeting new students and helping them find their creativity. When a student says, “this is so much fun, I never thought I could paint this well”, it makes me happy that I have helped someone reach their potential.
I started teaching art several years ago. I have always been a workshop leader in my other career so it came easy to me.
People asked me how I did what I did so I knew a demand was there. Thus started the adventure.
I am basically self taught. My father was a professional artist and I spent many years by his easel watching and absorbing his passion and expertise. I have been painting for over 30 years and have done workshops with some of the best teachers. Jeanne Bassette, Charles Huckaba, and many others through the years.

I usually interview them and look at their work so that we can start where they are at. I allow the student to direct what skills they need most. Then we begin. I ask the student to bring their own supplies, brushes, favorite paint, and canvas or vellum paper. Working on paper in the beginning allows the student to make happy accidents and not feel like they are wasting money on canvas.
Mostly beginners and intermediate students. Retirees and young professionals that want a new outlet. Anyone who appreciates art and wants to find their voice.
Make sure it is someone who's work you admire. Interview your teacher to see if the teacher is someone you can freely talk to. It is all about respect and communication.
For the last 11 years I have participated in the Prescott Area Open Studio Tour always held the first weekend in October.
I love meeting new collectors and aspiring students. It is a great 3 day event.

How much time do I want to invest in this activity?
Can I follow through on the teachers suggestions?
Do I really have time to do this?
