About Mollie

I love being able to share my love of painting and art with others without any expectations. Just having fun and enjoying each other's company and producing a wonderful piece of art to share with others. While we tell each other stories, sit quietly or listen to music, it all depends on the day and where our journey takes us.

I have always wanted to be a teacher, as a child I pretended to be a teacher with a black board and my siblings as my students. As an adult I realize how important teachers are and also think back to how critical teachers were in my life. So, I started teaching in order to change a child's day, moment, year as well as being inspiring in positive ways in all aspects of life. Most important to me is being a consistent adult in the students life bringing positivity, love, compassion, understanding, etc.

I have worked as an Art teacher for my district as well as at the Y.M.C.A. I am currently going to college for my teaching licence and have a year to go. I have worked with children with all disabilities, struggles, and or hardships. I am currently an R.B.T., a registered Behavior Technician working one on one with children/teens with Autism using ABA therapy. I have attended multiple conferences that further my education in working with children and teens.

About the lesson

Just having a free flowing interaction, where the student and I can build a rapper and I can learn more about the student. This helps me understand what they would like to learn as well as what they don't care to learn. I like to fully understand what makes each student tick in order to make their time with me matter.

I have worked with students that she range from 4-23 years old. I have also worked with students that have developmental disabilities, physical disabilities, Autism, Depression, Anxiety, Low self-esteem, Abandonment issues, addiction, grieving, you name it and I have probably had the pleasure of working with students who struggle in some aspect and they in turn have helped me learn patience, understanding, empathy, love and so much more.

I would advice to look for a teacher that fits what they are looking to learn and achieve. Also, a teacher that the student feels they can learn, grow, and most important have fun learning from.

Something that happened recently that I am fond of is a student I work with that has experiences with various learning obsticles. I was able to break through to this student using simply colors in an art project. I was able to understand what makes them excited and motivated. It also was evident that it improved the students day as I assessed with a verbal conversation of the other tutors.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
What do I want to learn during this experience?

What are my goals?

What are my needs?

What do I struggle with and what do I excel at?
