About Meegan

I have been painting my whole life. Oils are my preferred medium. I currently paint and specialize in pet portraiture. I believe that everyone can paint. Everyone has a style. Painting is something everyone can do. I encourage you to take the time to make a space to have a “painting space” you can go to anytime. I encourage you to get past those moments every painter has that they lose confidence and want to give up. That feeling is common and can be over come with guidance. You can enjoy being creative and call yourself an artist because it’s true!

My favorite thing is to bring out the artist in each person. Everyone has something to offer and guiding them to see their special gift as an artist is so rewarding. The art world belongs to everyone. I am always intrigued when someone claims, "I can't do that", or, my favorite, "I can't even draw a stick figure!" I love teling them that EVERYTHING is art! Everyone is an artist and I love showing each person how this is true.

I am one of 7 children and my parents couldn't afford art lessons or art school for me. I did take art when it was offered in high school and my teacher recommended that I apply at Cal Arts, but my parents were against it. I have always loved art and painting. I took private art study as often as possible. I did take a few courses in college, but private study was where I learned the most. I have always wanted to bring the" artist" out in each person and love teaching and sharing art. I started giving private art lesson over 25 years ago. I teach privately and also am currently an art teacher in a private tutoring/coding school since April 2022 to today.

I was always painting and took art in school. I went to a high school with a great art department and learned a lot there. I took all art classes in college. The most influential learning I had was through private study from Valery Kisorukov ( Art Instructir State Surikov Moscow)in New Orleans.

About the lesson

I believe a new student can be successful right away. I set up at still life and we begin the process. I show the steps one color combinations for mixing colors. I also have hundreds of art books. These are books about different artists and museums and collections. I introduce the student to the art world which is so vast, but also tells the stories of the insecurities, struggles and successes.

I have worked with every level and age. From 5 years old to 90 years. I worked with students who have never held a brush, to very advanced.

If you are looking for a private art teacher, or have a group of people, young or older who want to paint, think about what type of art you want to study and practice. Don't be afraid to expand. The art world is always evolving and the subjects for art are limitless and will enrich your life. You will come away with a whole new way to look at the world.

I was selected to be a Featured Artist with the Las Vegas Artists Guild July 2022. I am a current member of the LVAG. My art class held an amazing art exhibit at my tutoring school last May featuring all the students works of 2022.
