About Aidan

Hey all! My name is Aidan Borgo and I'm a senior at the Colorado School of Mines studying Environmental Engineering. I have been tutoring Math, Science, and SAT/ACT test prep for over 4 years online and in person.

Academic Tutoring

Math: Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1 + 2, Geometry, Precalculus

Science: Chemistry 1 + 2, Environmental Science, Biology, Physics 1 (Calculus based)

SAT/ACT Test Prep

Content for both English and math sections as well as test taking strategies.

4 years experience in academic tutoring in math and science.

2 years experience tutoring SAT and ACT test prep.

Extensive experience with ADHD and autistic students as well as some experience with other learning differences such as dyslexia.

I developed a passion for tutoring in high school working with middle and high school students at a homeless shelter in my hometown. I learned a lot during that time about how to work with students for whom the school system just wasn't designed to help and I grew to love finding new ways to explain the material, always looking forward to that moment when it finally "clicks" for a student. Since then I have worked as a private academic tutor in Math and Science for the past 4 years and as a professional SAT/ACT tutor for 2 years. I recently left the tutoring company I was working for as I felt the exorbitant amounts they were charging students were not only unfair but also preventing students from lower-income households from being able to access necessary resources for continuing education. Since then I have worked to build up a small number of students that I work with both online via Zoom and in person in the Lakewood, Wheatridge, and Arvada areas.

Two years of volunteer experience tutoring at-risk youth in science and math.

Three years of experience tutoring math, science, and SAT/ACT prep.

I am currently a Senior in an environmental engineering degree program at the Colorado School of Mines.

About the lesson

When tutoring, my approach is very student-centric as while two students may be struggling with the same problem, their "sticking point" or the reason why they are struggling is unique to each student. Often, by the time a student is in tutoring, they have already reached a point of frustration with the subject or acceptance that they will never understand it. Because of this, my tutoring style incorporates both content and encouragement, working together to undo the negative thinking patterns that are ingrained when we are struggling with a subject.

Virtual sessions - $35 per hour

In-person sessions - $40 per hour

Prices are negotiable if a student's family is unable to afford standard tutoring sessions.

Note: I will never charge more for SAT/ACT prep as I believe the entire standardized testing system is unfairly designed to benefit students who either test well or can afford to be tutored in strategies for the test. If price is a barrier to accessing SAT/ACT prep tutoring for you, please reach out and we can work out something that fits your budget.
